Grandfather Kurgan's Genestealer Cult, part 8

Brother Taron and Brother Kyros croon and hiss in the gloomy corners of Mancunius Dome. They have toiled in the slag mines around the Sulphured Quays for years. When the time comes they will throw off the torn robes they use to disguise their foulness, these Acolyte Hybrids will crawl into the light, their grotesque faces twisted in subhuman glee.

The Badfangs - Bonesplitterz of Aqshy, part 2

The Badfangs are Bonesplitterz orruks from the dry and windswept Uzmorgarg plains in the wilds of Aqshy. They might be hunting down Endless Spells at Realm's Edge in a Skirmish campaign, planned to start next year.

█▀▀ ▜▟ ▆▉▆▟ ▀▀█

Wurrgog Prophet Hogrog Ug Weirdklaw

Loaded up with the most potent and powerful of the magic bones his tribe has found, Hogrog has set out into the Realms, leading the Badfangs to hunt down the wild magic of Endless Spells. He has been empowered by the revelation that they are made of the essence of Gorkamorka, and their power can be captured and harvested, just like the power contained within other monsters' bones and teeth.

Wardokk Krogdak

Krogdak is Hogrog's acolyte, attendant and advisor. He is as mad as an angry Maw-Krusha and leads one of Hogrog's Morboyz mobs. Krogdak is adept at the grimdokk dance, and able to reattach severed limbs and knit flesh-wounds back together. He has patched-up more mangled Orruks than he can count (which sounds a lot less impressive than it actually is).

▉▂▐▃█ ▜▟▜▝▉

I plan on a Skirmish warband of a Wurrgog Prophet, 2 Wardokks, 3 Savage Orruks with Chompa and Shield, 6 Savage Orruk Morboys with Chompa and Toof Shiv, 5 Savage Orruk Arrerboys with Stinga Bows and Chompa, and 2 Savage Orruks with a Big Stabber.

I may add a few Forest Goblins I have in my bitz boxes, just for a bit of variety.

Oil and Blood, Tor Megiddo - part 10

I have repainted Blockhaus 17 for Tor Megiddo.

This is the third or fourth repaint this piece of scenery has received - it is one of the oldest bits of necromunda scenery in my collection (hence the card base instead of foamcore! I should probably have rebased it too...) and it has seen use in a lot of different environments over the years. I don't think it's ever looked this good before though!

Viktor has made some scenery (and written an intro) here.

Grandfather Kurgan's Genestealer Cult, part 7

Crawling out from the cold, polluted corners of the Mancunius Dome underworld come the Order of the Guardian.

~ Ձ ~

I have added another two models to the growing cult: Thokon and Gevik. They are both Genestealer-infected gangers that I will use as Autogun-armed Neophytes in Kill Team. For now I am focusing on adding models that have a chance of being included in a table-top force. My interest in them is less than the "behind the scenes" members of the cult but I'm worried about not being able to use them in a game without the more "fighty" cult members to carry to action part of the story.

Brother Thokon - House Goliath owns and operates many of the great foundries of Necromunda and its workers are the masters of the furnace - the cult has infiltrated in small numbers to gain access to materials and equipment.

Brother Gevik - House Orlock is known throughout Necromunda as the ‘House of Iron’, an industrial superpower fuelled by countless ore mines and a stranglehold monopoly of the convoys serving the ferrous slag-heaps that lie out in the Ash Wastes. The cult has started to reach beyond the mines and slowly creeps into the convoy crews.

~ Ձ ~

I have 2 Acolyte Hybrids on my painting desk that are undercoated and zenithal base-coated, so they will be the next additions. I have also found a few left over Neophyte torsos (I already used their legs on other projects!) that I will try to splice with legs from other kits. And I have plans to make one or two Genestealer-infected Escher gangers for this group.

Thy Soul To Keep, part 17. Epilogue

Act V, Scene 1. Night. Another part of the forest.

Enter DRAGANTE with a bottle in his hand. A noise of thunder heard.

DRAGANTE
All the terrors that the purple sun shucks up
From bogs, fens, forests, on fall and make him
By inch-meal a disease! His spirits hear me
And yet I needs must curse. But they'll nor pinch,
Fright me with urchin-spike'd, pitch me i' the mire,
Enter BORTAGNO.
Lo, now, lo!
Here comes a spirit of An'sec's, and to torment me
For bringing grave-sand away. I'll fall flat;
Perchance he will not mind me.
BORTAGNO
What have we here? an orruk or a fish? dead or alive?
A fish: he smells like a fish; a very ancient and fish-like smell;
a kind of not of the newest Poor-John. A strange fish!
Thunder
Alas, the storm is come again! my best way is to
creep under this tree; there is no other
shelter hereabouts: misery acquaints a man with
strange bed-fellows. I will here shroud till the
dregs of the storm be past.

DRAGANTE
Do not torment me, prithee; I'll bring my grave-sand home faster.
BORTAGNO
It is Dragante! I took him to be killed with a thunder-stroke.
But art thou not drowned, Dragante?
I hope now thou art not drowned. Is the storm overblown?
I hid me under the dead moon's gaberdine
for fear of the storm. And art thou living, Dragante?
O Dragante, two Rotmoons 'scaped!

DRAGANTE
How didst thou 'scape? How camest thou hither?
swear by this bottle how thou camest hither. I
escaped upon a butt of sack which the sailors
heaved o'erboard, by this bottle; which I made of
the bark of a tree with mine own hands since I was
cast aground.
They drink.

BORTAGNO
I'll swear upon that bottle to be thy true subject;
for the liquor is not earthly.
DRAGANTE
Here; swear then how thou escapedst.
BORTAGNO
I clung to a fish.
DRAGANTE
A howling drunken monster!
A most poor credulous creature. I shall laugh myself to death.
A fish swims by.
By this bad light, this is a very shallow monster!
I afeard of him! A very weak monster! The fish i'
the moon! A most poor credulous monster! Well
drawn, monster, in good sooth! It is but a Glaubfin.

BORTAGNO
No more dams I'll make for fish
Nor fetch in firing
At requiring;
Nor scrape trencher, nor wash dish.
DRAGANTE
I prithee, let me bring thee where crabs grow;
To clustering filberts and sometimes I'll get thee
Young scamels from the rock. Wilt thou go with me?
If we survived, the others may have also...
Exeunt DRAGANTE and BORTAGNO, singing
The master, the swabber, the boatswain and I,
The gunner and his mate
Loved Mall, Meg and Marian and Margery,
But none of us cared for Kate

Ancient ruins towered up from the forest like the bones of long-dead cathedrals, scraping at the ink-black sky. All was silence and stillness here. A heavy doom-laden quite had descended on the forests and mountains of the Harrowmark since the Necroquake had passed through. The denizens of the blighted village of Wӧrtbad knew that the worst was yet to come and there was nothing they could do to stop it.

Bolet groaned as he picked himself up off the forest floor where he had slept the night, among the wreckage of half-eaten fungi. His head was pounding and his vision swam for a minute or two. He hunted through pockets and pouches as he hobbled out of the small clearing and along a narrow winding forest path. He needed something to dissipate the crackling arcs of amethyst and teal energy that constantly and painfully popped and sparked across his hands. Small pebbles and leaves floated for a moment as he passed. The skulls that lined the graveyard walls chattered and rattled as he wandered. Strange visions drifted through his mind unbidden. He needed it all to stop!

With a squeak of triumph he located a small grey-green mushroom and popped it into his mouth. A wave of blissful emptiness passed through the grot as he chewed and he checked his moon-sickle and staff and then strode purposefully into the village.

The Rotmoons gathered between a monument to a long-dead hero and the back of Fallow's End House: Kapitán da Leeva, El Doctoro, Bolet Ghosteater, the ogor Rockeye, Dragante and a handful of the crew.

On the other side of the village the Gilded Hand and their heavily armoured reinforcements looked to the Witch Hunter Pieter van Toorn for leadership, while Kalyustar was safely ensconced in the Rose & Scythe inn.

An'sec and the Riders of Ordeschal drifted through the pumpkin fields.

The Raidho Orthalas has realised that all of their former allies had now turned against them. The waited impatiently at the Skydock for their ship to to come.

A thunderous volley of gunfire rang out as the Heralds of Nagash charged the south wall of the Skydock. An Arkanaut fell beneath their ethereal hooves.

An invisible gheist assailed the Aether Chemist.

The Raidho Orthalas on the north wall blasted the Gild Hand troopers as they advanced through the forest.

The Rotmoons braced themselves for a fusillade that never came as they rushed across the open ground between Fallow's End House and the Skydock.

Kapitán da Leeva, Bortagno and Rockeye charged ahead, leaving the rest of the crew behind. They burst into the building and set about the Kharadron they found there: the Aether Chemist and an Endrinrigger.

Bortagno got ready to join the fight.

Da Leeva killed the Endrinrigger and wounded the Chemist.

The Soulblight Vampire known as the Whyte Lady, and Lord Radclyffe his Riders of Ordeschal, slew three Arkanauts.

An invisible gheist tried to take a bite out of Bolet but the cave shaman fended it off with his protective charms and crude totems. He blasted a Hexwraith with a crackling teal Arcane Bolt.

Another invisible gheist snapped at the Aether Chemist.

Kalyustar watched the battle unfolding from the safety of the Rose and Scythe Inn.

The Raidho Orthalas were embattled on all sides!

The Whyte Lady took a fearful toll of Kharadron!

The Raidho Orthalas fired on the Gilded Hand again as the mercenaries charged the north wall.

The rest of the Rotmoons closed in on the Skydock.

The Whyte Lady wounded the Aether Chemist with her dark magic.

Kapitán da Leeva finally killed the Chemist - the Kharadron hero had withstood over two dozen wounds from blade and spell and gun, but he fell at the end to crulely wielded orrukish steel.

The second wave of Gild Hand troops hit the north wall and navigator fell - the Kharadron lines buckled and broke. As the Arkanaut Frigate descended from the low clouds only a single Arkanaut Company crewman was left to be rescued!

~ 🕱 ~

The Raidho Orthalas were unable to hold out long enough to be rescued. The Heralds of Nagash and the Gilded Hand were evenly matched in their kill-tally at the last. So the two "Death" factions formed an uneasy alliance - Kalyustar knew he had a lot to learn from An'sec.

Trailing in third place the Rotmoons just held the Skydock at the end. Battered and bruised the orruk privateers went back to waiting for another skyship that hey might be able to capture, to replace their shipwrecked vessel as another storm approached. As the curtain closed on the final chapter of the campaign Bortagno went off into the woods to find his old mate Dragante...
