Viva La Revulushun! - part 9

I finished the Nobz from Prophecy of the Wolf. I mixed in some heads from the MegaNobz and a few bits-box spares. I'm really enjoying Contrast Paint over a zenithal basecoat, a bit of edge dry-brushing and some sponging. The combination of "traditional" painting techniques over Contrast is really nice.

The Mud Hogz

Boss Nob Gitzog Grug and his cronies stomped along the main street through BadLanding City. They knew that no one would mess with them and they loved it. They had flashy gear and Freebooter swagger. Engines revved in the distance and they laughed, it was race day and all the best Kart-Meks were sending their fastest trukks and buggies to compete. Gitzog's ladz took food from street vendors and ignored the squeaked complaints from the grots selling it. They headed for the section of the ramshackle city walls that overlooked the start and finish line. They knew they would get the best view of the action (because they'd just shove anyone blocking it out of the way).

The Court of Spades, part 8

The Wortbad Tales

Whan that Ignus with his shoures soote,
The droghte of Huntygn hath perced to the roote,
And bathed every veyne in swich licóur
Of which vertú engendred is the flour;
Whan Hysh eek with his swete breeth
Inspired hath in every holt and heeth
The tendre croppes, and the yonge sonne
Hath in the Ram his halfe cours y-ronne,
And smale foweles maken melodye,
That slepen al the nyght with open ye,
So priketh hem Natúre in hir corages,
Thanne longen folk to goon on pilgrimages,
And palmeres for to seken straunge strondes,
To ferne halwes, kowthe in sondry londes;
And specially, from every shires ende
Of the Harrowmark, to Wortbad they wende,
The hooly blisful martir for to seke,
That hem hath holpen whan that they were seeke.

Bifil that in that seson on a day,
In Gallowmire at the Gryph-hound as I lay,
Redy to wenden on my pilgrymage
To Wortbad with ful devout corage,
At nyght were come into that hostelrye
Wel nyne and twenty in a compaignye
Of sondry folk, by áventure y-falle
In felaweshipe, and pilgrimes were they alle,
That toward Wortbad wolden ryde.
The chambres and the stables weren wyde,
And wel we weren esed atte beste.
And shortly, whan the sonne was to reste,
So hadde I spoken with hem everychon,
That I was of hir felaweshipe anon,
And made forward erly for to ryse,
To take oure wey, ther as I yow devyse.

The Grymwatch are such a characterful band of Crypt Ghouls I couldn't resist them. I wanted to make them blend in with the rest of the Grail Pilgrims so they all got greenstuffed rotting fabric robes - some more than others. The paint job was fairly rapid and loose and there a few things I need to tidy up but I'm happy enough with them.

This world nys but a thurghfare ful of wo,
And we been pilgrymes, passynge to and fro;
But deeth nys not the ende of every worldly soore.

Viva La Revulushun! - part 8

So the Ork half (I split the box with Blessed Knight) of Prophecy of the Wolf arrived and my hobby mojo for Orks was kicked up a gear! I finished painting the Big Mek last week and Lee dropped off the Prophecy Orks on Saturday morning. On Sunday night I started kit-bashing Meganobz and Nobz together a little (mostly head-swaps between the two kits).

Kogwarp Grot Kicker

WIP photos and backstory here.

Kogwarp Grot Kicker is a Big Mek NPC for a narrative Kill Team campaign, coming at some point in the vague and undefined future called "after corronavirus". He is mostly painted with Contrast Paint, with a little edge-highlighting and dry-brushing, plus a few detail Shades.

On a Kill Team roster Kogwarp will look like this:

The Mitzy and Jimbo and Warboss Kurgan Show

Well, that was a lot of fun! I went on The Mitzy and Jimbo Show this week to talk about narrative gaming, the Harrowmark and my Rumour Engine tracker. I've never done anything like this before as it is waaaay outside my comfort zone, but it was really really enjoyable.

Update, September 2023:
You can't watch the show anymore: they seem to have deleted their channel :(

The Court of Spades, part 7

After morning prayers the band of Grail Pilgrims broke camp and gathered their meagre belongings. / The pack of Crypt Ghouls howled at the moon then picked up rocks and bones and wrapped themselves in rotten remains of clothes found in broken mausoleums.

They sang as the walked, the sun shone down through the spring-green bowers of the pleasant airy forest. / The pack slunk through the tangled roots and dead leaves beneath bare branches.

The merry Pilgrims soon came to a welcoming looking inn. Their spirits rose as they discussed the prospect of a night before a warm fire, with hot food and cold ale. / An overgrown ruin, from an age long forgotten, loomed over them in the dark: Broken pillars like black ribs reaching up into the night. The Ghouls swarmed through the shattered buildings, sniffing round rotting timbers and mossy stone.

The Grymwatch arrived in the post yesterday (they were the first thing I ordered when GW's web shop reopened - they came faster than I expected!), I assembled them as soon as I could. They went together really well... apart from the guy with the giant two-handed bone weapon: He was a bugger to assemble.

I wasn't keen on the halberd, so I swapped it for a scythe blade (from the Coven Throne kit I think). I need to add greenstuff robes and hoods to all of them, so they fit in with the Pilgrims as a coherent Warcry warband.
