I like the image-led format a lot. Although for a while the algorithm was
pushing Reels at the expense of everything else. Edit: this seems to have been fixed now!

This Discord server moves fast sometimes (during campaign season in the summer!) but this is still my favourite place on the
internet. A great community and fantastic annual campaigns. NB: there may be
some bias in this statement!

The bird site, the fowl place, etc. Big hobby community but a lot of toxicity
simmering in the background, and too often the foreground, that I find very
hard work. Still mostly good but feels like it is declining fast.

Threads
The new kid on the block, as of July 2023. You have to log in with Instagram,
from which it imports your profile, follower and following lists. There are no
hashtags and search is behaving strangely so far. And yet... I already kinda
like it!

Bluesky Social
Another new one to me - I joined in late September 2023 but it's been around for maybe a couple of years. It is still "invitation only" and each user's account gets a limited number of single-use invites - one a week, I think.
