Oil and Blood, Tor Megiddo - part 20 - The Hunt

The Hunt

The promethium refinery loomed into view through the dust clouds: Officially it used to be called Station 534 but now it, and the shanty town surrounding it, were collectively known as False Hope. The spiked walls and shonky watch-towers around the edge of the town formed an unwelcoming silhouette. The choking fume-clouds that erupted from the chimneys blackened the already polluted sky above it.

The Slipgibbets cautiously moved into the edges of the shanty town, searching for a Rustman. They had been offered a bounty to capture one of the sacred and revered machines, a bounty so great that they had been able to overcome their superstitious fears of harming such an ancient and holy being.

They would find  beast much more vicious than they bargained for....

They split into three groups and crept into cover.

Absent spotted one of the hated Ashtown Wasters and took a potshot.

A grenade came whistling over the buildings and caught Kastorax and his group, but it seemed to be a dud!

The mutants scuttled forward, fearful more grenades would follow.

On the other side of the container the hated beast known as Duggee lurked.

Commander Blitzer took aim again.

And sent one of his lackies forward to draw out the Slipgibbets.

Oak huddled under the cover of the Alchomite Stack.

Jo Pyro ran up the ladder and bathed Kastorax and Leech in fire!

Duggee charged forward, pounced... and mauled Cobalt to death! Penance was also grievously wounded.

Absent took a bullet!

Oak foolishly tried to take on Duggee alone.

But lived to regret it!

The Slipgibbets not only failed to find a Rustman (the mission called for casualties to generate Beast Tokes - the skull beads in the photos - which then had to be destroyed with shooting or close combat attacks. We halved the numbers needed but still got nowhere near summoning a monster!), but they met an old enemy along the way. Duggee went on a single-lizard rampage through most of my gang!

  1. I'm really enjoying these, keep them up.

I've found that a lot of the Necromunda scenarios can be very difficult to achieve with gangs under 1500creds. A lot of them seem to be aimed at 1500+.

    1. Thanks! We are nearing the end of this Turf War and we are going to move on to other games for a while, but we will be back to the orange-coloured deserts of Tor Megiddo next year!

That definitely seems to be the case! We are also very time-limited as we play in our lunch breaks, so some missions take a bit too long as well.

  2. How can anyone hate Duggee? Fear, sure, but hate? I can't see it. ;)

That's a second pretty brutal fight for your guys in a row. Time to try to find an easy match-up somewhere to give everyone a chance to recover, maybe.

    1. Yeah, "hate" is too strong. "Live in constant fear of" is closer!

There are no easy match-ups at this late stage of the campaign! =O
