Shadows of Commorragh - part 10

This is my first real colour test for Low Commorragh scenery (I'm going to be repainting the small backdrop vignette I made to fit the "final" look of the boards). The green part is an Incubi Darkness base coat, drybrushed with Kabalite Green, then Sybarite Green and then a Sybarite/white mix. I'm aiming for a Shadespire colour palette, so the board will be a range of black-grey-green-blue-white areas. I might wash the base, part green, part black. Then drybrush up some areas to a lighter shade of grey (like the area not under the tree).

The images below are with a second test piece of ruins but the backdrop effects the overall colour balance of the photos and makes them look different to the way they look in real life.

The peace below is mostly made from a LotR Ruins of Osgiliath kit, but it isn't finished yet. I still have to paint the chains and other metallics.

My plan for the Low Commorragh scenery (I'm making two 22"x30" Kill Team sized boards) is to make two distinct levels: Ancient ruins on the lower level and more Aeldari styled (and less ruined) platforms above them. I have commissioned some 3D printed Webway Gate components and I plan on getting some laser-cut MDF elements for the upper levels. I will be adding to the MDF though as generally they look a bit to "plain" for my taste.

Oil and Blood, Tor Megiddo - part 20 - The Hunt

The Hunt

The promethium refinery loomed into view through the dust clouds: Officially it used to be called Station 534 but now it, and the shanty town surrounding it, were collectively known as False Hope. The spiked walls and shonky watch-towers around the edge of the town formed an unwelcoming silhouette. The choking fume-clouds that erupted from the chimneys blackened the already polluted sky above it.

The Slipgibbets cautiously moved into the edges of the shanty town, searching for a Rustman. They had been offered a bounty to capture one of the sacred and revered machines, a bounty so great that they had been able to overcome their superstitious fears of harming such an ancient and holy being.

They would find  beast much more vicious than they bargained for....

They split into three groups and crept into cover.

Absent spotted one of the hated Ashtown Wasters and took a potshot.

A grenade came whistling over the buildings and caught Kastorax and his group, but it seemed to be a dud!

The mutants scuttled forward, fearful more grenades would follow.

On the other side of the container the hated beast known as Duggee lurked.

Commander Blitzer took aim again.

And sent one of his lackies forward to draw out the Slipgibbets.

Oak huddled under the cover of the Alchomite Stack.

Jo Pyro ran up the ladder and bathed Kastorax and Leech in fire!

Duggee charged forward, pounced... and mauled Cobalt to death! Penance was also grievously wounded.

Absent took a bullet!

Oak foolishly tried to take on Duggee alone.

But lived to regret it!

The Slipgibbets not only failed to find a Rustman (the mission called for casualties to generate Beast Tokes - the skull beads in the photos - which then had to be destroyed with shooting or close combat attacks. We halved the numbers needed but still got nowhere near summoning a monster!), but they met an old enemy along the way. Duggee went on a single-lizard rampage through most of my gang!

Shadows of Commorragh - part 9

The Dark City is known to have "wandering shadows that tear apart the unwary" and is bathed in the cerulean half-light of the Ilmaea, or "black suns," dying stars taken from realspace by the Aeldari at the height of their technological prowess and installed within their own sub-realms within the Webway to provide Commorragh with light and power.

I think I have finished my Kill Team for Shadows of Commorragh! (I probably haven't finished.)

Moody atmospheric shots first!

Shadows of Commorragh - part 8

The lowliest of ports was once an architectural masterpiece millennia ago, but the ravages of civil war have not been kind. Low Commorragh now consists of a mixture of shattered ruins and scavenged former glories. Numerous dilapidated fortress complexes and barter-ports now spread out in every direction.

I have decided to use 32mm bases to make my Leader and Specialists stand out from the other members of the cult in Kill Team games, so I have built 4 more Drukhari for my warband, including 2 new Specialists:

And I have (finally!) started work on some Low Commorragh scenery. I realised that the easiest way to add curved blades to everything was to use a bits-seller and buy parts from Drukhari vehicles. I spent ages looking for 3D printed solutions and MDF things with very little success!

I'm hoping that the paint job will "sell it"... There is still lots to do on it though.
