Viva La Revulushun! - part 12, Bigrig the Cybork MegaMek

Bigrig - the Cybork MegaMek

Bigrig is a megalomaniac psychopath - he throws his (considerable) weight around to get his way and there aren’t many in Badlanding who can stand up to him one-on-one. He has also amassed a fairly big following of cyborks who also enforce his orders when needed. Kogwarp hates him and undermines his plans at every opportunity. He was nearly killed by one of his own creations a few years ago; only an entire cybork body, attached to his very pissed-off head, saved him. The painboy who performed the surgery did not survive the procedure. He is more machine than ork now, he has since rebuilt himself a dozen times, each iteration a little bigger than the last.

This model was made for a local hobby challenge to celebrate Warhammer Day (29th June).

With 9th edition Warhammer 40,000 about to drop we chose "9" as the theme and we had to convert and paint something for "Warhammer Eve" (the day before Warhammer Day, obviously!). I struggled for a long time with what to do, I considered something Tzeentch-related for a while, but then Viktor explained his plan and I just followed that!

I’m in mad scientist mood.I’ve all possible parts spread on the operating table, throwing them together and see where I end up.All the while muttering 9-9-9-9.

I came up with something that looked like it might weigh 9 tonnes! He is mostly made from an Ambot with Meganobz / Big Mek bits (leftovers from Saga of the Wolf), Killer Kan glyph-plates and a very cut-down Battle Wagon crew-Ork squeezed into the space where the Ambot's head should be. I decided that a Mek this big should have all the options available to a Mek in Mega-Armour, at the same time! So using all the spares left after building 3 plastic Meganobs he got a kustom mega-blasta, a kustom forcefield generator and a tellyport blasta!

Build-in-progress stage photos, that I couldn't share at the time as we had all agreed to keep our "9" challenge entries secret:

Viva La Revulushun! - part 11

An ork power generator: Rattling and rumbling all day and all night, spewing black smoke and fumes. A make-shift solution to powering a Mek's workshop.

While going through the boxes that were in storage I found an old notebook, with my initial thoughts about Badlanding City. I have been planning this project for such a long time, it has gone through a quite few different iterations!

Viva La Revulushun! - part 10

I got some more Ork Mekworld scatter terrain for BadLanding City built, undercoated, zenithal base-coated and painted over a few evenings.

These are purely made from bits box spares and the largest bases I had to hand. I tried to make them as "random" looking as I could while also thinking of how to make them look "natural", in the way the various parts sat together and leaned against one-another.

Update: painting finished!

Viva La Revulushun! - part 9

I finished the Nobz from Prophecy of the Wolf. I mixed in some heads from the MegaNobz and a few bits-box spares. I'm really enjoying Contrast Paint over a zenithal basecoat, a bit of edge dry-brushing and some sponging. The combination of "traditional" painting techniques over Contrast is really nice.

The Mud Hogz

Boss Nob Gitzog Grug and his cronies stomped along the main street through BadLanding City. They knew that no one would mess with them and they loved it. They had flashy gear and Freebooter swagger. Engines revved in the distance and they laughed, it was race day and all the best Kart-Meks were sending their fastest trukks and buggies to compete. Gitzog's ladz took food from street vendors and ignored the squeaked complaints from the grots selling it. They headed for the section of the ramshackle city walls that overlooked the start and finish line. They knew they would get the best view of the action (because they'd just shove anyone blocking it out of the way).
