The Haunted Realmgate is nearly finished as well - just dead grass flock and leaf litter left to add.

City of Thorns - part 6 - A Rock and a Hard Place

After their last skirmish ended it a rout the Crowmoons had to stop Gudrun's Pirates breaking through to their camp, where their meager supply of foraged and looted Wyrmroot was stored.

The Duardin were split into three groups while the Crowmoons were concentrated in one group on the left flank - just Dogear and Spitlock held the right flank, and Spitlock was mostly there is keep an eye on Dogear and make sure he didn’t get into too much trouble! They spotted that the Duardin Quarrellers were coming their way so they lay in ambush for them in a narrow gully.

The Lurker Boyz pressed the attack but the Slayers and Warriors tried to slip past them. Dregtoof left the Boyz in Mudgard’s command and went off alone to deal with the humans who were trying to slip down the left - Ishmael the Wizard and Pirate Captain Pecker, hoping to take them out one at a time.

Dregtoof piled into the Wizard with choppas swinging wildly - he landed one or two blows but he was taken down by the Wizard's Chain Lightning magic.

The Pirate Duardin tried to rush the gap left on the right of the Lurker Boyz but the orruks spotted the attempt and closed in on them. Dogear and Spitlock prepared to hold Quarrellers in a narrow pass on the right flank.

The Lurker Boyz got a beating: They had charged into the fight but the Duardin were tough and well armoured, and more importantly, excellent fighters.

Dogear and Spitlock successfully drove-off the Quarrellers with axe and spell.

The Duardin Slayers smashed the Lurker Boyz but they had delayed the Duardin long enough to deny them victory.

City of Thorns - part 5 - Undone and Dusted

The tangled forest of the Wyrmdark seemed to be moving. Maybe even growing around them as they forced their way through the clawing branches and thorny vines. Whenever they paused for a brief rest they were have convinced the creaking noises of the trees also stopped - it was as if the woods were trying to sneak up on them.

Dregtoof, Dogear and Mudgard had returned to the wilds of the Wyrmdark with a band of Lurkerz Boyz while Spitlock and the Underhogz were left to guard what little Wyrmroot they had been able to steal from the struggling peasant farmers and traders.

But the Wyrmdark was not a healthy forest, the Crowmoons had taken wide detours around several clearings that were fetid and corrupt, where loathsome unnamed things squirmed in the rotting trunks of fallen trees.

So they were relieved to find themselves in a wide clearing of rolling uncorrupted grasslands. The relief was short-lived though, as their old foes the Grudgebreakers were also there!

Pirate Dwarf Captain Gudrun roared a challenge and hurried ahead of his followers. The hairy buccaneer fired his pistol at Dregtoof while Ishmael, the Grudgebreakers’ Wizard, blasted him with an Arcane Bolt. Gudrun  impetuously charged alone into the Orc lines and took down Dregtoof with his rune-engraved cutlass!

The Crowmoons scattered.

City of Thorns - part 4 - Low Red Moon

The Crowmoons were once more raiding Ghyran for the supplies that they could not find in Shyish: They were braving the wilds of the Wyrmdark, at the far end of the Amberwind Chasm, in the hope of finding Wyrmroot for Saruthul the White Sorcerer.

Overhead the night sky was lit only by the Dimdire - a permanently eclipsed moon, the colour of blood - as Gudrun and his Duardin Pirates crossed paths with the Crowmoons again in the the Wyrmdark.

The Crowmoons advanced in an oblique line, with Dregtoof and the Lurker Boyz at the head of the right flank, followed by Spitlock and the Underhogz Arrer Boyz with Dogear the Shaman at the rear on the left flank.

Dogear the Shaman and the Arrer Boyz provided cover from the Sinister Idol of Gorkamorka as the Orcs closed on a hill that was loaded with Arcane power.

The Duardin Slayers came over the hill and smashed into the Orc Boyz while the Wizard and Shaman dueled magically and physically! Dogear wounded his opponent and the Wizard fled to fight the Arrer Boyz alongside the Pirate Captain.

The Slayers sold their lives dearly, as they wiped out the Lurker Boyz and took down Dregtoof. Dogear was left far behind the combat lines as the Underhogz were whittled down to one Arrer Boy. Spitlock and Dogear grabbed their fallen boss and beat a swift retreat.

City of Thorns - part 3 - Feed the Trees

Dregtoof was getting thoroughly fed-up with those damned Duardin Pirates. They kept getting in the way and spoiling the day whenever they turned up. He found out when they were next planning on using a Realmgate (known locally as Arduinna’s Gate) and led the Crowmoons to lie in wait for them there.

As soon as the Duardin arrived at the gate the Lurkerz piled in with Warboss Dregtoof leading from the front. Big Boss Spitlock joined they by charging out of the inspiring ruined building while the Underhogz Arrer Boyz took up firing positions inside. Dogear the Shaman provided a Mystic Shield for the Arrer Boyz from behind the rocky hill, upon which Arduinna’s Gate stood.

After a few brief minutes of fighting a handful of Slayers were dead but the Lurkerz were all killed or run-off. The Duardin Quarrellers made a Hazardous Journey through Realmgate to snipe at Dogear from behind.

Gudrun and Captain Pekker dealt with Dregtoof and Spitlock while Cargo the Ogre Maneater clashed with the Underhogz.

The Crowmoons lost again. Only Dogear and 2 Arrer Boyz were left to try to escape, swearing that they'll get the Duardin next time!
