"Overboard" the shipwreck Rogue Idol - part 1

Somewhere, deep in the woods of the Harrowmark, the parts of half a dozen shipwrecks stirred and took on a life of their own - timbers, sailcloth, rigging, anchors, chains and even the remains of several their former cargo were drawn together (maybe under the influence of the nearby pirate orruk's Waaagh! energy) in a storm of flotsam and jetsam. The pieces of timber rolled toward one-another: A Rogue Idol, that the orruk pirates would later call "Overboard", started to assemble itself.

This walking shipwreck-creature was treated as an idol by other ship's crews. The pirate orruks followed it into battle with a joyous fury and reveled in the destruction the Rogue Wreck wreaked!

I had this idea at the end of December last year and it has been rolling around in my head for over a month. I spent a week building the thing, in every spare moment I could find. It was lots and lots of very short sessions, so there was plenty of time for the glue to dry in between each step. While building it I tried to concentrate on the idea that it isn't a "robot" - so it didn't need any joints or machinery for it to be able to move. It is literally orruk magic and shipwreck parts; nothing more.

I also really wanted it to have an orruk-y silhouette and stance, so all the proportions and positions of things had to work in that sense. It was a REALLY fun build. Very liberating!

    1. Thanks Castigator! Much appreciated!
I had the idea late last year and it was taking up far too much space in my head, so I just had to make it to get it out.

  2. Brilliant model.
Is most of it the shipwreck terrain piece for the Sea Elves (whatever they're called)?

    1. Thanks!
Yep about 75% Gloomtide Shipwreck and about 20% Warcry scenery walkways and the rest is bits box assortments of "wooden stuff".

  3. Excellent realization of your idea. It will be fun to see how it works into your games. 3rd party/NPC kind of unit fighting both sides or switching sides depending on which sides WAAAAAGHs loudest maybe.

Any chance of a Rose and Jack pair of grots who've made their way to what I guess would be the head of Overboard for a magical mid-melee moment? Maybe the dirty mop wig of Rose swaying in the breeze created by the latest charge?

Is that a sneaky Titanic reference? 🤣🤣🤣

    2. Yeah. It seemed an easier suggestion than doing a figurehead of some sort and in line with one strain of grotish humor.
