The Ironfang Pirate Fleet - The Plunderblades and the Portwreckas, part 7

Hurdygurgy

The Ironfang Fleet are a ragtag band of orruk sky-pirates that cruise the airways of the Mortal Realms, in a ramshackle flotilla of wooden vessels that barely look able to fly, let alone fight. They are not usually a single coordinated force, but a collective of individual ships that prey on whatever merchant sky-shipping that they find sailing over the less-travelled areas of the realms, or on the shipping routes between Free Cities.

They have gathered at the Ashfall Delta in greater numbers than have been seen for a generation. Kaptain Mogrum and the Cleavermaws made a handsome profit last time they were in the Prime Dominion and they have passed word to the other ships in the fleet. The prospect of the gathering storm that is about to beset the hidden archipelago in Haixiah (via the Realmgate in the delta) offers unequalled opportunities.

The Ironfang Fleet have been incentivised to join the fighting with the Longblades in the Ashfall Delta. They have employed a squadron of piratical sky-ships to rain-down fire on their enemies, and stand watch over their advance from above. It might be somewhat inaccurate cannon-fire, but it's spectacular and there is enough of it that the quantity has a quality of its own.

Hurdygurgy was a Warchanter on the Plunderblade. He joined the crew somewhere along the journey between Andtor and the Gnarlwood.

He probably had another name at some point before then but everyone just referred to him by the strange crank-driven musical instrument he always carried and that name just stuck.

I actually needed an extra Brute model for my latest Ironjawz warband, but I found the saved bits from my Goff Rocker conversion while I was collecting suitable parts and... well... this guy just sort of came together!

The first time he will see action on the table is likely to be at The Ferocious Gnarlwood, at Warhammer World in February. But he will be used as a Brute with Fortitude there, rather than a Warchanter.

I think this will be my warband list for the event:

Mr Flea - Ardboy with Ardboy Choppas [80]

Klonk

I also finished Klonk and his mate this week:

Anvilsinka

Anvilsinka was the Ironfang Fleet's blacksmith. He maintained their kutlasses, pistols, cannon and other assorted weapons. Very little was new-made; almost every weapon or tool was repurposed, or reinforced, or "upgraded" in some way, from the plentiful war-gear captured and stolen from prizes.

He also assisted with repairs when metal bands, straps, rings, pins, nails, fasteners and fittings, bolts, plates, or similar were required. Which was surprisingly often considering the ships of the fleet were almost entirely wooden.

The other fella: I renamed the Ironjawz weapon-smith from Zoggrok Anvilsmasha to just Anvilsinka for a little more of my usual nautical feel.

I did a little conversion work on both of them. Klonk gained the mini furnace / crucible, that is supposed to be on the blacksmith's belt at his back, and a pair of tongs (from an old WFB scenery kit I think - really not sure which kit though. I snipped them off the side of a little metal brazier full of coals).

Anvilsinka gained a lightly converted Kharadron aethershot rifle as a pistol, a couple of parchment ribbons from the Plague Monk kit, and some chopped up Skaven war-machine bits on his base as shipwreck timbers. I used greenstuff to add a crab and turn the pile of shields under his foot into a rock.
